Board News
December 2023

Dear ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Community,

As we approach the end of the calendar year and look forward to a well-deserved winter break, I am excited to share some ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø achievements in 2023 that have brought to life our mission to inspire students to learn, explore, and have fun.

ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø students have participated in engaging overnight experiential learning trips across all divisions, from elementary to middle and high school. These hands-on experiences have taken our students on captivating journeys throughout Egypt and the world, expanding their understanding and fueling their curiosity beyond the confines of the classroom. From the memorable elementary adventure in Fayoum, to the week-long middle school excursions to Siwa, Hurghada, and Luxor, and the high school engagements in Croatia, Denmark, Vietnam, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, Switzerland, and Italy, ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø students have broadened their horizons, embraced new cultures, and formed lasting friendships along the way.

In addition to these exceptional experiential learning events, our athletic program has provided an array of new opportunities. Notably, ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø proudly hosted two international tournaments on campus: the Pharaoh's Cup and the Red Sea Rivalry. These tournaments not only align with our strategic plan's focus on well-being and international mindedness, but also foster cross-cultural exchanges with competitors from other countries. Recognizing the need for continuous improvement, the Board has planned the remodeling of our swimming pool and the resurfacing of our track this school year.

We have welcomed a new school psychologist and additional learning support staff this year. These additions further bolster our ability to meet the diverse needs of our students in a post-pandemic environment, ensuring they thrive within a nurturing learning atmosphere. As we look ahead, we are planning for new strategic staff members for the 2024-2025 academic year, including a Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operations Officer, and a Director of Teaching and Learning. Additionally, I am thrilled to announce the upcoming grand opening of our Early Intervention Center for Neurodiverse students aged 2-5, scheduled for January 2024. This initiative which I shared with you last May, exemplifies our dedication to providing specialized resources for young children not currently attending ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø.

Despite regional uncertainties and economic challenges, ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø remains resilient, a testament to the commitment, passion, and time you invest into making our community strong and united. We wholeheartedly appreciate the trust you place in us and your unwavering support.

The involvement of our community is our greatest asset and integral to our success ensuring that we continue ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø’s tradition of excellence. To honor our community’s involvement, the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Board of Trustees every year seeks to recognize members of our community through the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Community Core Values Award. This award is presented to members of our community who exhibit the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø core values by making exceptional and varied contributions to the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø community through volunteering their time, expertise and love for ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø. The ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Core Values are: Compassion, Creativity, Courage, Integrity, Perseverance, Respect, and Responsibility.

If you know of someone who has made a difference in the lives of our ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø community while exhibiting these core values, please nominate this person for the Core Values Award. The nomination form is available.  Forms can also be obtained from the Board Executive Assistant, Nawal Gamal, on the 3rd floor of the Admin Building or via email board@cacegypt.org. Nominations are due no later than 3:00 pm on February 11, 2024.  All members of the community are eligible to be considered for this award. Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of our ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø community.

The ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Board would like to encourage parents to actively participate in the upcoming Board elections.  The ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø community elects two board members biennially. ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø parents and guardians who are not employed by ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø and who are not relatives of ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø employees are eligible to apply for a two-year term for the academic school years 2024 - 2026.  I encourage interested community members to get in touch with the Board Election committee at elections@cacegypt.org  to provide you with more insight about the roles, responsibilities and duties of trusteeship. The election Committee is comprised of Trustees: Karim Alaa, David Chi, and Dustin Harrison. Please send an email to board@cacegypt.org if you are interested in receiving a copy of the Election Packet which contains the Candidate Application Form and detailed information regarding the election process.

With my warmest wishes for a restful holiday season and a peaceful 2024,

Warmly,

Maha ElShinnawy
